I’m in State College, Pennsylvania for Arts Fest. We’ll be discussing next steps for a Penn State history course, a project which should make an impact by introducing new generations of Penn Staters to a sense of not only institutional history, but also the threads that connect them with their past and future.

Arts Fest is an annual Central Pennsylvania tradition. Started by students in the 1960s, the weeklong festival is now run by the nonprofit Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts. It important to the region and draws more than 100,000 each summer.

Something that I hadn’t realized is that the distinctive Arts Fest posters have each been designed by Lanny Sommese since the inception of Arts Fest. Here’s this year’s poster:

Also neat that you can purchase many of them online. The 2012 poster is one of my all time favorites.
